PR Tips for the Real Estate Industry
The end of summer means the real estate industry is slowing down, but if you’re an agent or broker, now’s the time for you to up your game so that you don’t take a hit. Here are a few suggestions to help you make your mark, even during the “off season”.
1. Show people who you are
Real estate is competitive. There are lots of relators and mortgage brokers out there who want client business. Consider differentiating yourself with a video that explains your services, your approach and why people will want to work with you. Use this on your website, social media accounts, newsletters and more. I recommend updating a video like this twice a year. If you can establish a connection and relatability with a potential client, you’re much more likely to earn referrals, trust and subsequent sales.
2. Break down the numbers
Real estate news is always a hot topic and there are many reports, locally and nationally about sales, inventory and interest rates that come to media constantly. Help out a reporter by condensing some of this information and offer to be an expert on the topic. The easier you can make things for media, the more likely they will want to use you as an expert. Once you start getting coverage as an expert, you will appear credible and have a better chance at earning the trust of clients since you have already earned the trust of the media.
3. Get out with the locals
For most of the industry, real estate targets local clients so get out in the community. Sponsor an event, speak at your local BIA meetings, embed yourself and become recognizable. You want to be known as someone who cares about the well-being of those in their community, as well as someone who is a reliable, trustworthy and professional. You’ll make connections, meet with key influencers and find leads.
In this highly competitive market, you really need to think outside the box and shine in order to secure your position as the go-to realtor or broker. You might even try hiring an ice cream truck and serving free cones outside an open house. Nothing like a sweet treat to win over some new clientele!
