5 Ways To Prep For 2023

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for a holiday break with a capital B! I plan to watch A LOT of holiday movies and be a couch potato for the last part of December. If those are your plans too, good for you. We all need to recharge before a new year begins.

But before you shut down for the holidays, I challenge you to do some thinking about your brand and its goals for 2023. You don’t have to have it all figured out but consider the following tips as you head into the break and get a head start on some of these suggestions if you can. Your January self will thank you!

1. Write out your business goals for the New Year.
The written word is powerful. There’s something about writing down your thoughts that can make them seem more real. Writing goals for the next year of your business is something you can refer back and it gives you a north star when you have times of confusion or compliancy.

2. Reach out to local publicists or writers to make a custom one sheet or deck for your brand.
If you want to make an impact with a small budget, I encourage you to design a one-pager about your company with key details about your mission, product or service descriptions, pricing and interesting facts. Don’t forget to include visuals to make it appealing. Make sure you have a copy that is editable so you can make small changes yourself throughout the year. Use this in your pitches, pull information from it for social posts and expand on it in a blog.

3. Create a content calendar.
Look at a calendar of 2023 and note key dates for your brand. From there, work backwards and estimate when you should be posting about milestones, sales, sending newsletters and publishing blog posts. If you take an hour out of your day next week, you will be able to put together a skeleton content calendar that you can continue to fill in as you have more information.

4. Take photos constantly! The more, the better!
The more photos you have, the more content you have! Whether you’re at an event, setting up for a meeting or having lunch with a client, make sure you capture as much as you can. This will give you options for posting on social media and will give you a library of stock images you can use when your schedule slows down or you’re feeling unmotivated.

5. Write down 5 media targets to conquer in 2023.
Of course, I couldn’t let the year end without a traditional PR plug! If you’ve noticed some publications or broadcast outlets that align with your audience, write down a Top 5 list and plan to conquer
2-3 of those within the first half of the year. Look at your content calendar and key milestones and work your pitches around those. If you need some guidance, remember, I’m only a click away!
